Beaches

Isla Cristina

This is one of the most popular resorts and it's extra hectic and eventful all through summer. Isla Cristina has numbers of great beaches to go for and choose from, even if the most renowned beach can seem filled to the capacity with overflowing tourists and local vacationers alike during the peak months of July and August.

There are complete and exceptional first-rate facilities on the beach, which include the superb showers and toilets, sun loungers, colorful parasols and the hired lifeguards that are prevalent all over the place. To complement all these are the numerous sand dunes and pinewoods. The beach bars otherwise dubbed as chiringuitos are wide open for the entire summer season.

Isla Cristina
has a stretch of no less than twelve kilometers of fine golden sand and translucent, cool waters. Isla Cristina is estimated to have about three thousand sun-hours within a year. In The dunes or hills of loose sand formed in the seashores by the constant blowing of strong winds are covered by the vegetation of bushes. There are rows of pine areas and one could spot the presence of endangered chameleons here. Chameleons are the common name for a certain type of unusually-shaped body lizards adapted to living in pine trees. They are well known for their ability to change colors more so when they are frightened and in reaction to light, temperature and other environmental changes and not necessarily to match with the color of its surroundings as commonly believed.

Isla Cristina s various beautiful beaches are super-charged with fun and sunshine. Do not miss out on:

Isla Cristina De la Casita Azul Beach

De la Casita Azul Beach is situated in the Costa de la luz . One can gain access to this 2,800 meters long and about 65 meters wide beach from the amusement area of De la Casita Azul . It has superb car parking in a huge and cool space surrounded by a layer of trees of eucalyptuses and pines.

Under the thicket of pine trees there lie sets of tables, banks, and the likes as a come-on to all the picnickers. The same pine grove separates the beach from the large-sized dunes which are partly covered with vegetation of bushes. As a safety measure, the beach also has a tall cylindrical-like structure, that serves as a look-out tower especially for the lifeguards, from where at vantage point you will also have a full view of the nice things to see underneath.

Isla Cristina Central Beach

Isla Cristina Central beach which is also in Costa de la luz otherwise known as Costa de la luz Central Beach is one of the most developed beaches in the area. It is because it has built-in modern road networks and telecommunication infrastructures. There is a seafront thick pavement and 2 well-lighted chiringuitos / restaurants both with grand patios, namely: Casa Pepin and the Restaurante Oceano .

The size of this Central beach is 2,000 by 70 meters in length and width, respectively. As soon as you are able to pass the way where lines of eucalyptuses stand, you come to a curve where you will be able to park right next to the beach. If you are not lucky enough, then you will have to proceed to the car park section with a vast pine grove. Then, you walk through the access ramps along its wooden footbridges and enjoy the different services of the beach. For its pristine shores, the blue flag has been awarded to the area.

Isla Cristina Playa Santana Beach

Type: Urbanized

Playa Santana Beach , is also within the Costa de la luz . Before passing the way of eucalyptuses and coming to the Central beach, one can see a mounted sign on Beach Santana . You will see a pine grove chiringuito along the beach.

Isla Cristina Punta Caiman Beach

You can gain entry to this particularly well-developed beach resort only a few flight of steps from the common car parking area and then through an access path made of sands and tiles. This will lead you then to a footbridge of floating woods that take you to this attractive beach which is akin to a strong arm of fine golden sand of about 75 meters wide and 2,000 meters long. It is surrounded by extra-calm, clear sea waters on both sides. This beach is also equipped with bath showers and a number of lifeguards.

The City Beach

This beach, shared between the towns of Lepe and Isla Cristina, boasts 1600 meters of fine sand and clean waters as recognized by the annual award of the blue flag.
There are currently ten ways onto the beach without obstacles and with walkways, two of which are specially adapted for the disabled, although the shape of the others also allows easy access for the disabled.
It is worth pointing out here that the layout of the city beach includes a promenade between the first buildings and the beach and that further on, there is a coastal park with indigenous vegetation and animal life comprising the common chameleon, amongst others.
Also on this beach, especially during the months of April and May, you can see the Snowy Plover, a small bird that nests on the beach and whose main characteristic is that it pretends to be injured to avoid its nest being discovered.

Facilities

There are toilet and changing room facilities, showers and footbaths in the coastal park and in the hotels along the promenade. There are also numerous rubbish bins installed on the beach, which have been carefully designed so as not to clash with the surroundings.
Lifeguards: 9 in total, with lifejackets, lifelines, radio telephone, lifeguard tower and a motorized rescue craft. The beach has the following areas marked out: bathing area, sports area and sun lounger area

Islantilla

In the south of Europe, lapped by the blue waters of the Atlantic Ocean and only a few kilometers from Portugal, lies Islantilla a new tourist resort located in an area with more than 3,000 hours of sun a year, an average temperature of 19 degrees and a wide range of leisure options.
The resort has more than 20km of fine white beaches that contrast with the green of a superb 27-hole golf course and also features a magnificent shopping center. Islantilla fosters a modern concept of tourism that makes the most of its natural resources and expertly blends activity and relaxation.
Of the natural riches in the area the marshes and the coastal pinewood of Isla Cristina stand out along with the marshes of the Piedras River and the stunning “flecha del Rompido”. All of this speaks of an area of special ecological interest where there are plenty of opportunities for activity tourism, distinguished by the quality of the services and its harmony with the environment.
In Islantilla you will be able to play golf in an exclusive location, practise most types of water sports, go for walks, go on excursions, dance till the sun comes up or witness an amazing sunset.
You will be able to meet its people, familiarise yourself with its customs, its gastronomy and experience the charm of two pueblos, Lepe and Isla Cristina that help make Islantilla an ideal place to have a good time all year round.
