San Fernando

San Fernando is a historic town that is right in the heart of the Bay of Cadiz and is linked to the city by an eight kilometer split of land. However, the city is more of a peninsula which has been connected to the mainland. Its major attraction is the Castillo Beach which is almost 3 kilometers long. Total population in 2005 amounts to 92,666 just in the city proper alone while density is2.895,8 hab/km Time zone in here is CET (UTC+1).

It is surrounded by salt marshes and is known to its inhabitants as La Isla, or the Island. San Fernandans however, are known locally as "Cañaillas". It is one of the best places to encounter with the very soul of Andalusia , as it is the birthplace of flamenco s greatest legend: the late Jose Monge , who had revolutionized the art of flamenco under a stage name of Camaron de la Isla .
