Rota is an ancient town that is 41 kms from Cádiz, 25 kms from Jerez de la Frontera, 163 kms from Algeciras, and 126 kms from Olvera. It is a town with approximately 26,000 people and its main commercial activity is the fishing industry. Though it is not a tourist center it can boast of very fine beaches that is sixteen kilometers in total. The major beaches are the Rompidillo, Playa de la Costilla, Playa de la Ballena and Punta Candor.
